Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Q. I broke the glass globe on my grandmother’s Gone-With-the-Wind lamp. Can you get me a replacement globe and paint it to match the bottom font?
    A. Yes, I stock most reproduction shades and globes for antique lamps, and can paint your shade to be a pretty good match to the original.
  2. Q. How much will you charge me to fix my antique floor lamp?
    A. It is always difficult to say without actually seeing your lamp, but I make every effort to be as affordable as possible on parts and labor.
  3. Q. Can you make an old gas burning lamp fixture into an electric one?
    A. Yes, but it isn’t easy.
  4. Q. Can you repair and rewire my European crystal chandelier?
    A. Yes, I stock most replacement parts. I will rewire your chandelier to American specifications so you can use regular 120 volt bulbs.
  5. Q. Can you come to my house, take down my hanging fixture, fix it, and then re-install it?
    A. No, I’m sorry I do not make house calls. You should always get a licensed electrician to remove and re-install all your electrical fixtures.
  6. Q. I need an odd sized glass chimney for my old oil lamp. Do you carry usual sizes?
    A. Yes, I have a wide selection of chimneys, from very small to very large.
  7. Q. I have an ancient oriental vase that I would like to make into a lamp. Can you drill a whole in the bottom of the vase and make a lamp?
    A. Yes, I can make a lamp out of most anything from musical instruments, to ceramic statues. But I always warn my customers that there are no guarantees that their glass or ceramic pieces will not break during the drilling process, even though I make every effort to be careful. Nor will their musical instrument ever make music again.
