Frequently Asked Questions
- Q. I broke the glass globe on my grandmother’s Gone-With-the-Wind lamp. Can you get me a replacement globe and paint it to match the bottom font?
A. Yes, I stock most reproduction shades and globes for antique lamps, and can paint your shade to be a pretty good match to the original.
- Q. How much will you charge me to fix my antique floor lamp?
A. It is always difficult to say without actually seeing your lamp, but I make every effort to be as affordable as possible on parts and labor.
- Q. Can you make an old gas burning lamp fixture into an electric one?
A. Yes, but it isn’t easy.
- Q. Can you repair and rewire my European crystal chandelier?
A. Yes, I stock most replacement parts. I will rewire your chandelier to American specifications so you can use regular 120 volt bulbs.
- Q. Can you come to my house, take down my hanging fixture, fix it, and then re-install it?
A. No, I’m sorry I do not make house calls. You should always get a licensed electrician to remove and re-install all your electrical fixtures.
- Q. I need an odd sized glass chimney for my old oil lamp. Do you carry usual sizes?
A. Yes, I have a wide selection of chimneys, from very small to very large.
- Q. I have an ancient oriental vase that I would like to make into a lamp. Can you drill a whole in the bottom of the vase and make a lamp?
A. Yes, I can make a lamp out of most anything from musical instruments, to ceramic statues. But I always warn my customers that there are no guarantees that their glass or ceramic pieces will not break during the drilling process, even though I make every effort to be careful. Nor will their musical instrument ever make music again.
